Custodial Services is incredibly proud of custodian Leona Bay for being named a recipient of the President’s Meritorious Service Award (PMSA). Leona has 12 years of service working as a custodian on the Texas A&M University campus.
Dr. Russ Graves, with the Transition Academic Programs in Hotard Hall, approached Leona’s supervisor, Steven Johnson, about nominating Leona for this prestigious award. The faculty and staff of both Hotard Hall and the Munnerlyn Astronomy & Space Sciences Building absolutely love Leona and the work she does for them. They consider Leona as family.
The PMSA program included portions of Leona’s nomination letters:
"Few people give as much attention to detail as Leona does. She has served as the custodian for Hotard Hall and the Munnerlyn Astronomy & Space Sciences building for many years and exemplifies a level of commitment to Texas A&M that serves as a source of inspiration for others. She is dependable, efficient and diligent in all she does and her contributions do not end with her work. She also projects a warm, cheerful attitude to her clients. She is able to resolve conflicts and handle difficult situations with remarkable grace, patience and admirable tact. Leona is widely considered to be a member of the department’s staff because employees understand and value her contributions to our missions. She has made a connection with each employee and she is intentional in developing these relationships."
Leona was recognized at the President’s Meritorious Service Awards ceremony on February 27. This event kicked off the university’s Staff Appreciation Week.
Congratulations, Leona! We are so very proud of you on this prestigious award!
