Welcome to Matt Husek who officially joined our Grounds Management team as a post graduate full-time associate with the designation Project Manager I. Prior to being brought on full-time, Matt had been with SSC at TAMU since September 2015 working as a student intern. He is part of the A&M class of ‘14 and graduated in December 2016 with a degree in architecture and a double minor in facilities management and history.
As a member of the Grounds Management team, Matt manages all of the miscellaneous billing for the Grounds Department while simultaneously keeping up with the work he managed for the Landscape Construction/Heavy Equipment department during his student employment.
Born and raised in Converse, Texas (just a few miles NE of San Antonio), Matt has worked on construction jobs since the age of 14 while also working a lifeguarding job on the side. When he started college, Matt became a produce rep for H-E-B; he worked this job also while interning for SSC. Matt’s strengths are commercial job sites dealing with light gauge steel and drywall. He is best when it comes to Microsoft Excel; Matt has designed and built many of the spreadsheets used to manage the Grounds department’s revenue after labor and costs.
When Matt isn’t engrossed in Excel spreadsheets for SSC or working as a produce rep for H-E-B, he enjoys cycling, rock climbing (indoor or bouldering outdoor), camping, fishing, hunting, barbecuing, tailgating and watching Aggie baseball at Olsen Field. During his college years, Matt served as a team lead for Engineers Without Borders (EWB) TAMU.
Matt’s favorite spot to vacation would have to be a split between Bonn and Munich/Bavarian Alps in Germany, where he completed a study abroad program. The cuisine in that area is his favorite: the Schweinebraten, or Bavarian roast pork, which is served with a cold Bonnsch (pilsner from Bonn) and a potato dumpling.
Grounds Management is fortunate to have this talented young man as part of our team.
