Many of you have worked with or seen student worker Jimmy Caracheo around Facilities Services. Customer Relations Manager Sarah Boreen recently caught up with Jimmy, who has a lot of irons in the fire! Jimmy currently attends Texas A&M University and is expected to graduate in December 2017 with an Architecture degree and double minor in Business Administration and Facilities Management.
Jimmy started with SSC in the summer of 2016 as an intern for his facilities management minor; he spent a portion of that summer working in each of our departments. Jimmy currently works for Custodial Services, where he mainly assists Alice Casanova with HR related clerical duties and occasionally has the opportunity to shadow Resident Regional Manager, Ted Dawson. Jimmy comments that he learns many valuable management skills by observing Ted. In addition to working at SSC, Jimmy also works as a referee for Texas A&M Rec Sports, where he’s worked his way from a rookie to a veteran!
Beginning in the spring of 2018, Jimmy plans to pursue his Master’s degree in Land, Property and Development or Construction Management at Texas A&M.
Born in Los Angeles, Jimmy moved with his family to Dallas on his 5th birthday. His family currently resides in Royse City, Texas. Jimmy has two sisters and they all grew up playing soccer. The Caracheo family is from Mexico. Family is extremely important to Jimmy and he credits where he is today because of the sacrifices his parents made to give both his sisters and him a better life. His dad has always told Jimmy to work hard now so later on he can enjoy the fruits of his labor. Jimmy knows that all of the hard work he’s putting into getting his degrees will be worth it in the end!
When he’s not in class, studying or working one of his jobs, Jimmy can be found playing soccer every chance he gets. He’s been playing the sport since he was 4 years old! A fun fact about Jimmy is that he is a shoe collector; he likes buying shoes, especially the latest pair of Adidas. Jimmy’s favorite vacation destination is Barcelona, Spain. He ranks sushi among his favorite foods.
Learning new things each and every day from Alice and Ted is what Jimmy says is his favorite part of the job. He states, “This is a great place to work…everyone is always nice and helpful.” Jimmy would love to apply what he’s learning into his own management style and is always looking for ways to improve as a person.
We’re happy to have you with us, Jimmy, and wish you the best
