It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our associate Monzella “Niecey” Gooden who most recently served as the Senior Maintenance Coordinator for Athletics.
Niecey was born February 6, 1963 to Elder Milton and Mrs. Mitze Gooden in Bryan, Texas. She was educated in the Bryan public school system, graduating from Bryan High School in 1981. Niecey was a life-long member of the New Testament Pentecostal Church, Inc. She was very active in ministry including serving as the youth director, church secretary and finance clerk. Additionally, Niecey served on the Women’s Mission and the music ministry of New Testament Singers. She truly had a heart for the children of the church and was affectionately called “Aunt Niecey.” Despite her genuine affection for the youth,
Niecey didn’t mind passing out a whipping and chewing gum on occasion (with the parents’ approval)!
Niecey started with Texas A&M University’s Physical Plant in September of 1988. She worked in a variety of roles throughout her years here, always bringing her wit and humor to any situation. She also worked for the City of College Station and the Lincoln Retreat Center, where the children respectfully called her “Miss Niecey.” She enjoyed shopping, arts and crafts, and loved gospel music. Niecey loved being a mother to son Shannon.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Niecey’s family during this extremely difficult time. Niecey – thank you for all your years of service; it was a pleasure to have you on staff.
