We all know Sarah Boreen, the shining smile with the ability to light up your day. But do you know what she really does to make every day easier for you? Sarah manages public relations, meaning it is her responsibility to make sure our customer, Texas A&M University as a whole, is happy with the work we provide in every department of SSC Facilities Services. She meets with building proctors and staff on a continual basis to assess their satisfaction with the job we do. If there are problems, Sarah works to help them get resolved so SSC may continue to serve TAMU in a favorable manner. Sarah represents you, the SSC associate, to our customer.
Marketing and event planning have also become a part of Sarah’s responsibilities. Due to the amount of specialized work involved in putting SSC’s best face forward, Barbara Musgrove has been added to work with Sarah on a daily basis.
Together, they produce this monthly newsletter in both a digital and printed version highlighting the accomplishments of associates at SSC in College Station. This information is distributed internally, to the Compass family and externally as well. Another source of information distribution is social media. SSC at TAMU has both a Facebook and Twitter account that are updated through this department. Please like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter!
Barbara and Sarah are tasked with producing informational marketing materials and media that show the progress of SSC as well as hosting/planning events for our customer. This may include decorations, favors, entertainment, menus, vendor relations and creating presentations for management. Some of the events produced through this two person team include the bi-annual Customer Appreciation Lunches, the annual Arbor Day Celebration, and assisting the university with Staff Appreciation Week and Staff Photo Day.
Special projects are another responsibility of the Public Relations team. One of the larger projects Sarah and Barbara collaborate on is the Weathermatic/Living Water service scholarship. In 2016, two A&M students were selected to travel to Nicaragua to help build a fresh water well. The project was such a success that this year it was expanded to include three of universities in the Texas A&M System, with the selection of six students in total. The coordination of marketing the trip for applications, accepting and compiling the applications, setting the selection process and committee, notifying the recipients, coordinating all necessary documentation, ordering awards and t-shits, and the presentation of awards require substantial time and organization skills on the part of this team.
More special projects include creating videos, websites, PowerPoint presentations, flyers, posters, invitations and brochures for various programs or events.
This team of two is grateful for the opportunity to serve our fellow SSC associates in all departments and our customers at Texas A&M University. We're here for you!
