SSC would like to extend a warm welcome to Catherine Hall who recently joined Engineering, Design and Construction Services (EDCS) as a part-time administrative assistant. Before coming to work for SSC, Catherine worked for a family medical practice in College Station as a receptionist/admin assistant.
Born in the San Francisco Bay Area suburb of Palo Alto, California, Catherine is the youngest of seven children. She has been married to EDCS Project Manager, Ken Hall, for an impressive 39 years! While living in California, Catherine attended the College of San Mateo. She has an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts but her concentration was in Ornamental Horticulture. Several years ago, Ken and Catherine moved from California to College Station.
The couple has raised 4 children: Rebekah (34), Jacob (33), Grace (23) and Claire (20). They also have 5 grandchildren. The Halls home-educated all of their kids from kindergarten through 12th grade. Catherine says of her children, “They are amazing people and I couldn’t be prouder of them.” Catherine and Ken are active members of New Life Baptist Church in College Station. They have a 1 year old Great Pyrenees/Lab mix named Moon; she’s a sweet, but goofy dog. Catherine enjoys making the house a home for her family and spending time with her loved ones, cooking, reading, music (if it includes a banjo, it’s probably on her playlist!), swimming, going for walks and nature photography. Catherine states, “to know me is to know that I’m seriously into gardening. Currently I am growing an assortment of annuals, perennials, herbs, veggies and fruit. I especially enjoy raising cut flowers and heirloom roses. This year I wheelbarrowed 5 yards of pea gravel and created some nice garden pathways.” Wow, Catherine – that’s impressive!
Catherine’s favorite vacation destination is the central cost of California and her favorite meal is breakfast eaten anywhere as long as it involves espresso, fresh fruit, and a pastry. Catherine made it a point to note that she despises black licorice! One of her go-to quotes is, “Constant change is here to stay!” (K. Maresco). The best advice Catherine has ever received is to cultivate a heart that’s grateful.
So far, Catherine's co-workers are what she likes best about her job. She says they are a professional and talented group who have been extremely welcoming, kind, and patient. Catherine goes onto say, “I enjoy interacting with people and if my skills in administration (i.e. organization & attention to detail) can help them achieve their goals, then I consider it a good day!” What a great attitude, Catherine - we know you’ll make an excellent administrative assistant for our busy EDCS team!
We’re very thankful to have you as part of the SSC family!
