MAINTENANCE BIDS FAREWELL TO THOMAS COLEMAN

 

Change in the workplace is inevitable.  It hits the hardest when one has to say goodbye to a beloved co-worker – that person that you’ll truly miss seeing each and every day.  That’s what happened on July 28, when SSC Maintenance said their goodbyes to their dear colleague and friend, Thomas C. Coleman. 

 

Thomas had served as an Operations Manager in the Maintenance Department since March 2015.  Prior to that, Thomas was the Maintenance Supervisor for Zone R South.  Thomas’ story here on the Texas A&M University campus began in August 1999 when he was hired by Residence Life as a Utility Worker.  From there, he was promoted to Building Maintenance I, then Building Maintenance Mechanic, Assistant Foreman and so on. In 2012, when SSC came online at TAMU, Thomas became an SSC employee.  He just kept going until he reached the Operations Manager position!  We are pleased to announce that Thomas has been promoted yet again to SSC Unit Director in the Henry Independent School District in Paris, Tennessee.  This of course means that Thomas and his family are moving a little further north where the winters are definitely colder than Bryan/College Station!

 

We hosted a farewell gathering for Thomas on his last day.  He was overwhelmed in the best way possible with the outpouring of well wishes from the many folks who attended.  In a message to the whole group, Thomas expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone he has worked with over the years.  He said something to the effect of, “I’m only as good as the people I have worked with.”  Well, Thomas, we think you’re pretty great yourself and will miss your positive attitude, hardworking spirit, smiles and jokes.  We know you’re going to do great in your next position and everywhere life takes you.

 

It’s been an absolute pleasure!
