HALBOUTY CLASSROOM RENOVATIONS COMPLETED

Over the summer, EDCS Project Manager Sarah Morris, along with Team Lead and Architect Deborah Hardt, and Construction Inspector Grady Winkler, were hard at work on the renovation of classroom 101 in the Halbouty Geosciences Building.  Sarah has been managing classroom renovation projects for the last 4 years with the Council of the Built Environment (CBE) and the Classroom Improvement Committee (CIC).  The Halbouty classroom is the last of the heritage classrooms that the CIC has renovated during this time.  This project was also the most ambitious of the heritage classrooms as most of the original detailing had to be uncovered by a paint preservation expert and many of the original details were either lost or heavily damaged. Sarah remarks, “While we do not know what the original stenciled ceiling looked like, the preservation architect, in collaboration with the Texas A&M University Architect, developed a pattern that was inspired by the original construction documents when the building was initially constructed.”
