SAFETY COMMITTEE APPRECIATION LUNCH
On October 11, the safety committee held their annual appreciation lunch in the Andras A&B Classrooms at the Equine Complex. Safety committee members, zone/crew supervisors and managers across all four of our departments were invited to enjoy lunch together and celebrate safety. There were also drawings for fun prizes, including trunk organizers, tool kits, blankets, insulated cups, pop-up tote bags and more!
Safety Coordinator, Ronald Kleppel, planned the event, and Lou Jacques, Custodial Training Supervisor, also helped out. Regional VP Richard Gentry, SSC Corporate Safety Manager John Alaniz, EDCS Regional Director of Operations (RDO) Jeff Heye, Maintenance RDO Paul Tisch and Custodial RDO Ted Dawson all addressed the group emphasizing that we’re celebrating last year’s safety accomplishments and kicking off safety for this fiscal year. All management team members who addressed the group told the safety committee what an outstanding job they’ve done to promote safety and educate their teams on the high importance of being safe on the job as well as outside of work. John also commended the group for how far we’ve come collectively; we set the safety bar for the other SSC accounts. He reiterated that safety is not just one person’s job – everyone needs to be responsible when it comes to safety.
