Francisca has the daunting tasks of keeping up with all the cleaning, special projects and ongoing events held at the President’s House, where she has worked for more than 8 years. Her job duties and responsibilities far exceed that of a normal custodial employee. In addition to keeping the two story house clean from top to bottom, her extra work duties include polishing the wood furniture, cleaning the silver, brass, the piano, the fireplace and chandeliers. She also keeps up with the laundry, making beds, cleaning the kitchen, scrubbing and polishing the wood, ceramic, marble and brick floors. Due to ongoing events being held at the house, she also does set up and take down of the formal dining tables as needed for brunch, lunch or dinner. Tables must be complete with dinnerware, silverware, stemware, beautifully folded napkins, flower arrangements/centerpieces and linen.

Francisca has demonstrated that we can all have extremely busy or long days but can still make the best of them. She is always on time and can be counted on to get her areas of responsibility completed in a timely manner. Francisca also works on holidays, nights or weekends and at any time she is needed to serve the guests. She is highly regarded by the caretakers and all visitors to the house as a family member. She is very knowledgeable about the house and has no fear of offering up beneficial opinions needed to make things run smoothly. The rest of the team steps up and are willing to help her out when there is a lot on her plate.

We consider Francisca a diamond in the rough. She can use some polishing but too much polish can also irritate the finish. We all truly appreciate and love her for her dedication to keeping the President’s House immaculate and for making it a showplace all would be proud to see. And we are very grateful for her more than 24 years of dedicated service to the Custodial Department. Congratulations on being named the GEM of the Year, Francisca, and thanks for all you do!
