MAINTENANCE TECH RESPONDS TO ACCIDENT

Zone B Lead Maintenance Technician, Charles Onstott, helped with the car accident that took place on January 18.  A contractor driving a company vehicle had a seizure and ended up running into the Entomology Building on the corner of University Dr. and Agronomy Rd.  Charles was en route back to the main facilities building for lunch when he noticed the truck in front of him swerving and he watched the accident unfold before his eyes.  Adrenaline running through his body, Charles put his car into park and went to help the driver of the truck who had literally gone through the Entomology Building.  He then heard someone calling for help and realized that an A&M employee had been at his desk when the accident occurred and was trapped in the rubble.  Charles pulled him out and assured him that everything was going to be okay. When asked what prompted him to spring into action to help, Charles said “My grandfather instilled sound values in me, one of them being to help others in whatever ways I can.  I was just trying to do the right thing.”
