SSC Services for Education is part of a worldwide company called Compass Group, which has close to 30 sectors. Chartwells, the dining services provider here on the A&M campus, is one of SSC’s sister companies. Because of its great size, Compass Group divides the US accounts into numerous zones. Both SSC and Chartwells at TAMU are part of Zone 6.

A group of SSC associates attended the January 30th Compass Community Council (CCC) for Zone 6 in Houston. We also brought Ralph Davila, Bill Cox and Valerie Hadley, all of TAMU Facilities & Dining Administration. The event was held in downtown Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Compass Community Councils are forums dedicated to bringing the different sectors of Compass together to share best practices, network and resources. CCCs have two main components: during the first part of the event, Compass Group officers offer associates exclusive insight on the state of the company. Local associates are also recognized for service years, Be-A-Star and “above and beyond” great service. During the second part of the event, associates are invited to network and enjoy food and drink prepared specially by sector chefs during a culinary reception showcasing the best practices from local accounts.
