GROUNDS TAKING CARE OF CENTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE RENEWAL AT RELLIS
Marcus Patrenella, Grounds RELLIS Supervisor
Following the 90 day warranty period after construction, SSC has officially taken over caring for the grounds at the new Center for Infrastructure Renewal (CIR), located off of Highway 21 at the ever-expanding RELLIS campus. The Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) share the CIR. According to TEES’ website, the CIR is a world-class facility featuring labs and testing facilities armed with the latest technology dedicated to pavement materials, corrosion, materials evaluation, electric power grid, pipeline system integrity and infrastructure systems.

The Grounds crew out at the RELLIS campus is led by Supervisor Marcus Patrenella. He has a crew of very hardworking associates: Jose Figueroa, Norman Hicks, Calixto Lopez and Jamie Sanchez-Arizpe. In addition to the RELLIS campus, Marcus and his crew also take care of campus' outlying areas including the old University Services Building, Business Records & Storage, Solid Waste, Poultry Science, Dick Freeman Arena, Nuclear Science, Range Science, Observatory, Beef Centers 1& 2, Airport, Sheep & Goat Center, Parsons Calvary, Schmidt House and all water wells. Grounds Manager Seth Flowers praises Marcus and his team, saying, "they are willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. They are committed to doing their very best each and every day."
Specifically at the CIR, the Grounds team is responsible for maintaining the entire perimeter of turf and plants and a beautifully landscaped courtyard.
SSC would like to congratulate TEES and TTI on this beautiful facility!
