On December 14, Custodial Services held a “Day of the Stars” themed holiday celebration at Kyle Field’s Zone Club. The Zone was decorated in gold and white along with lights and Christmas trees to really create an ambiance for the “stars” of the day – each and every custodial associate, support staff and event guests. The event was different from past holiday celebrations. This year, in keeping with the “Day of the Stars” theme, there was talent show which featured some impressive singers and dancers. Kenneth Hall, Molly Henderson, Jacqueline Calhoun and Constance Carter did a fantastic job singing. Emma Padilla performed a dance for the group and she was equally excellent. There was also a fashion show for those who dressed in their own attire (instead of their uniform) and a “Best Dressed” competition was held and the top three were named winners. A holiday celebration isn’t complete without great music and dancing and this celebration had both! David Castillo, one of our Custodial associates, served as the DJ. Thanks to David for doing an awesome job! In 2018, the Custodial Department implemented a perfect attendance incentive, and, as a result, department management has seen significant improvement overall. Associates who have had perfect attendance for a full year were recognized at the holiday celebration. Great job to Arthur Lockhart, Ernesto Calderon, Roberto Cortez, Jr., Miguel Herrera, William Wilborn, Marshall Wilson, Jr., Avis Bruno, Reginald Stephens, Venancia Calvo, Joseph “Boomer” Costiloe, Nora Luna, Tarsila Ortiz, Susana Rodriguez, Floriberto Sanchez and Louis Hartmann. The crews that were accident free for the reporting year were also recognized. Congratulations to Crew L, Athletics, Crew I, South Area, Northwest Area, Custodial Warehouse and AP Beutel. Way to go on truly putting safety into practice! Special thanks to Alma Villarreal and Ruth Alvarez for coming up with the theme, decorations and for all they did to make this event so successful. Custodial Unit Director Madlene Maxwell was so grateful when saying, “Great job, ladies! You both are very much appreciated and thank you to all the others who helped - whatever you did was appreciated and it could not have been done with you. Thank you!”
