George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush made a tremendous impact on the Aggie community, future students and visitors to the George Bush Library. Custodial Unit Director Madlene Maxwell says, “The impact that the couple had on the Custodial Team at the GBL is priceless.” This group of SSC associates are very proud of the work they do in keeping the library in pristine condition and they all have their own stories of encounters with President and Mrs. Bush. This team of Custodial associates were handpicked, with most having worked at the library for years. The team was so saddened to hear of President George H.W. Bush’s passing. When they heard the news, they do what they always do – they sprung right into action to make sure nothing was left undone for Bush 41’s final visit to Aggieland. Below are kind words from Maria Rosa Alvarado, Custodial Assistant Manager at the George Bush Library on her amazing staff: “When we received the news of the death of former President George H.W. Bush, we immediately put hands in action to ensure the Library and Museum were looking their best. Some of us personally knew President Bush and his wife Barbara. They were very down-to-earth and always passed by with a smile. Thank you, President Bush. We are going to miss you!”
