Renovation Project Begins at Engineering Innovation Center

Engineering, Design & Construction Services Project Manager Nevin Brown is working on Phase I of the MSEN Department Engineering Innovation Center Renovation project. This project, which began on March 25, will create lab space for fabrication equipment from Thompson Hall and Research.

The project will consist of interior demolition of the existing walls, ceilings, and doors, and partial demolition of the HVAC and electrical systems. The interior buildout includes new lab space fitted out by reusing some of the existing cabinets currently at Thompson Hall and installing new cabinets to match. The building electrical system will be upgraded with new wiring, panels to support the additional load from the lab equipment and lighting. HVAC upgrades include new fan coil units, air handling units, heat exchangers, and ductwork. Plumbing lines are being rerouted to allow for sinks in the lab area. A portion of the existing concrete slab will be removed to reinforce the foundation to allow for a large press to be brought in through a section of the roof that will be removed and replaced. The project is expected to be completed by the end of July. Thanks, Nevin, for your work on this project!
