On May 22, Custodial Services Director of Operations Ted Dawson and Administrative Assistant Alma Villarreal hosted a special lunch for the George Bush Library Custodial Crew, which is led by Supervisor Maria “Rosa” Alvarado. There were multiple reasons to honor this incredible crew. They were instrumental during both Barbara and George H.W. Bush’s funerals. Earlier this spring, George Bush Presidential Library and Museum Deputy Director Robert “Bob” Holzweiss, Ph.D., wrote a letter to Ted Dawson expressing his sheer gratitude for the crew’s outstanding work during not only during the funerals, but also in their day-to-day work. Bob wrote, “I am especially grateful for their work during the week-long period of mourning following the deaths of President Bush and Barbara Bush. Although each member of the SSC team deserves individual recognition, their individual accomplishments were amplified by their close collaboration with each other and the Bush Library staff and their personal initiative during a week of world-wide attention focused on the Library.”
The crew’s “work in and around the George Bush Library in both public and secure spaces is beyond compare.” Bob went on to say, “One customer compared the cleanliness of our bathrooms to Buc-ee’s – and that is a very high compliment.” Well said, Bob!
Way to go, GBL Custodial Crew! Thank you for making SSC proud.
