From left to right: Turf Supervisor Cameron Kastelein and Turf Manager Ricky Scher
The Grounds Turf Department plays a crucial role in keeping campus looking beautiful. One area the team is particularly proud of is Academic Plaza. Because of the Century Tree being located in that area, it gets a lot of foot traffic. The Turf Team works extremely hard to keep the area looking its best.
Keeping campus mowed definitely adds to the beauty of the Texas A&M University campus. The grass and landscaping are often the first things people notice when visiting an area for the first time. A beautiful campus adds to the “wow factor” and helps attract new students.
Turf Manager Ricky Scher commented, “We have the experience and knowledge of the campus that no other company possesses. We use that knowledge as a grounds department to work together strategically to make a large impact on how campus looks.”
Ricky, along with Turf Supervisor Cameron Kastelein, recently mowed Academic Plaza. They said that even though the campus is a lot less crowded during the summer, about 200 people walked through that area in a span of two and a half hours. Cameron Kastelein says, he “takes a lot of pride in making sure that area looks extra good”.
Thanks for all you do, Cameron, Ricky, and the rest of the team!
